    Excellent as a topping on everything from rice to pizza, this shichimi togarashi is the fiery kick your taste buds have been waiting for.

  3. Kizami benishoga is the perfect garnish to a rich dish. Made of fresh ginger and the salty, fruity brine left over from pickling Japanese sour plums (aka "umesu"), this shredded pink pickled ginger adds a sweet and salty — not to mention colorful — lift without being overly acidic.

    Fantastic for curry of course — but also great on ramen, fried rice, and okonomiyaki.
